Rust in Python, or the rustification of Python
In the dynamic landscape of software development, we come across new programming languages, frameworks and tools almost every day that are designed to make our work as developers more efficient, faster and more secure. Python and Rust are two such languages that have been gaining influence in recent times. In this blog post, I will focus on ways to combine these important languages.

Partnership between adesso and the German Sustainability Network
Sustainability has taken on a much larger role in the insurance industry. This is due in no small measure to the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) that requires companies that meet certain financial criteria to provide detailed sustainability reports. Active sustainability is a top priority of adesso, particularly when it comes to the insurance sector. We are working on making our services more sustainable and have partnered with the German Sustainability Network (GSN), for example, to provide our customers with even better support in the area of sustainability. I will explore the partnership and what it entails in this blog post.

Municipal waste management as critical infrastructure and the role that digitalisation has to play
In this blog post, I will explain the link between municipal waste, critical infrastructures and the role of digitalisation. Municipal waste disposal is classified as critical infrastructure, so many waste disposal firms and waste treatment facility operators are required to make investments to guarantee they are able to deliver the service they supply from 2024. This means that provisions must be made to ensure that waste is always disposed of and recycled or reused – which also includes the generation of energy through waste incineration – even in exceptional situations. This opens up new opportunities for us as an IT service provider to be part of projects and drive digitalisation forward.

Coding assistants: GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer or open source?
Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly important tool, also in software development. AI-supported coding assistants are now so advanced that they can not only perform simple coding tasks, but can also help solve complex programming problems. In this blog post, I will present GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer and a variety of open-source alternatives as prime examples of coding assistants and compare their relevant strengths and weaknesses

Rewriting code in Rust
Rust, a system programming language designed for performance, reliability and productivity, has created quite a stir in the software development community in recent years. Its growing popularity can in part be attributed to the Rust community’s catchy slogan: ‘Rewrite Everything in Rust’. But what does this mean and why is it something that you might want to look into? This blog post will answer these two questions.
