Data visualisation is only one aspect of interpreting data. However, looking at a representation inevitably leads to a specific interpretation, and this can be problematic. Therefore, in the second part of my blog post, I will give you various examples of how visualisations ‘covertly’ convey their intended message.

True to the saying ‘don't trust any statistics you haven’t falsified yourself’, the way in which you present the exact same set of data can elicit completely different interpretations. So in the first part of my blog post, I’m going to show you how the presentation of a graph that visually represents data can impact perception.
